Preparations of the Global Biodiversity Outlook-3 are underway

The workplan for preparing GBO-3 has been discussed at the second Technical Partners meeting of the 2010 Biodiversity Indicators Partnership held from 25 to 26 June 2008 in Montreal (see report at www.twentyten.net). An updated preparation schedule is being maintained at www.cbd.int/gbo3/production.shtml

The production of the third edition of Global Biodiversity Outlook is underway. The document is being prepared as a “living draft”. Existing sections of the text will be replaced as more up-to-date or relevant data and case studies become available. In this way, a working draft of GBO-3 will become available in early 2009 and enable contributions and inputs from Partners at any point in time. A full draft of GBO-3 will be reviewed between August and October 2009, and revised and finalized in November and December 2009. It will be difficult to include information received after this date.
